Living-Learning Centers

Here at the University of Alabama, we believe that students should be provided with every possible opportunity to succeed. Therein lies the purpose of our many Living-Learning Communities. These programs allow students to live in our residence halls for the same cost, but to also have access to educational programs and classes exclusive to each Living-Learning Community. Each community is unique, with specific requirements and living arrangements. You may request a living-learning community when you complete the online housing application.  If you would llike to participate in the Honors College or the Blount Undergraduate Initiative, you will need to complete the program application in addition to the housing application. Please read the information carefully, and contact your specific Living- Learning Community or the HRC office if you have any questions.

I believe that the most meaningful way I’ve made a difference in the lives of my residents is by being part of that bridge over the gap between high school and college.  I strive to encourage my residents to use me for the resource I am, especially the 95% of my residents that are freshmen.  I am the one of the people they can come to not only to find what academic services are available, but also some social events that Tuscaloosa and the university have to offer.  This way they can create their own balance between work and play.
