Freshman Room Selection Schedule - 2013/2014
Incoming freshmen who applied for housing between October 1, 2012 and January 1, 2013 will have access to the online room selection process following the schedule below. A student's initial access to room selection is determined primarily by date/time of housing application; the sooner a student applied for housing, the earlier s/he will be able to enter room selection in the spring, and the more housing choices the student will have. A freshman with a later housing application date, even if after January 1, may be pulled into a space by a roommate with an earlier application date, if the prospective roommate is eligible for online room selection. In order to be eligible to live together, all roommates must be eligible for the same housing. For example, in order to live in Honors Housing, all prospective roommates must be in the Honors College. Although a student's initial period for online room selection extends for approximately 12 hours, a student should log in as soon as possible for the most housing options.
Incoming freshmen who apply for housing January 2 and after will be assigned by the Housing and Residential Communities assignment staff. This method of assignment will allow students to receive their assignments in the most timely and efficient manner. Students should look for more information about the assignment process on our web site and through the UA crimson e-mail account, throughout the spring.
Students who apply for housing after June 1 will likely receive their assignment in late July or early August, as space is available.
Please note, students with special needs, such as medical needs, who need assistance with their housing assignment, should submit a request, along with documentation of medical need from the student's physician, by March 1, 2013. Please fax these requests to 205-348-7137.
All times listed below are Central time. If you live in a different time zone, you will need to adjust your log in time accordingly. For example, 6:00 p.m. Central time is 7:00 p.m. in the Eastern time zone. The Housing and Residential Communities office will be open each night of room selection from 6:00-9:00 p.m. CDT.
