Room Selection Schedule for 2010/2011 Housing for New Freshmen
The online room selection process for incoming freshmen begins in spring 2010. Your date to enter the online room selection process is determined by 1) the date your housing application was completed, 2) living-learning community participation, if any, and 3) any special needs.
The initial room selection period for students selecting a living-learning community runs from March 11, 2010, through March 25, 2010. During this 2-week period, room selection is only available from 6:00-10:00 p.m. Central Daylight Time each evening. The initial room selection period for all other buildings runs from April 20, 2010 through April 29, 2010. Again, during this 2-week period, room selection is only available from 6:00-10:00 p.m. Central Daylight Time each evening. Each student’s specific log in time will be sent to him/her through Bama e-mail. Room selection will close April 29 at 10 p.m. and will reopen on May 10 for all freshmen who completed their application by the April 1 deadline. Beginning May 10, you may choose a room each afternoon from 4 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following morning. Room selection is closed each day from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Room selection will end on July 2, 2010. Please note, all times listed are Central Time.
Any student who does not select a room for him or herself will be assigned initially by HRC staff beginning May 17, as space allows.
LIVING-LEARNING COMMUNITY ROOM SELECTION (INCLUDING HONORS HOUSING)- March 11-March 25
Students who wish to participate in the Women’s Engineering Living Option; the Mallet Assembly; the French House; the Emerging Scholars Living-Learning Community; and the Arts on Campus Community will be assigned to their spaces by the Housing and Residential Communities staff. Mallet Assembly, the French House, the Arts on Campus Community and the Emerging Scholars Community require a separate application. Students interested in participating in the Blount Undergraduate Initiative, the Arts and Sciences Freshman Living-Learning Communities in Parker-Adams Halls, the C&IS, HES and Nursing Communities in Harris Hall, and Honors Housing are able to select their own rooms. Students interested in the Blount Undergraduate Initiative must apply separately to the program before selecting a room in Blount. Student interested in Honors Housing must be admitted to the Honors College before selecting a room in honors housing.
Students in the College of Commerce and Business Administration who are interested in participating in the Business Living Option in Friedman Hall, and male students in the College of Engineering who are interested in living in Bryant Hall, may select those buildings as space is available; they do not require a separate application.
Students wishing to participate in the Arts and Sciences Freshman Living-Learning Community may select a space in Parker-Adams. Their participation in the community will then be confirmed by the College.
If you are eligible to, and wish to select a space in one of these communities, you may do so in March, as long as you applied for housing by the March 1 deadline. If you do not want to participate in either of these communities, you will be able to select a space in April, according to your application date.
